An Introduction to Digital Retribution

Welcome to the All-New, Post-Millennium Digital Retribution.

Many years ago, Digital Retribution was one of Australia’s most visited sites for horror and cult movies. It had a library of over 2000 movie reviews, with many staff and an enthusiastic forum full of some of the country’s biggest genre fans.

I, J. R. McNamara, was a staff member of that site, and wrote over 300 reviews, moderated the forum and had several features on the site including interviews, and for about 8 years ran this site, formally known as The To Watch Pile.

The To Watch Pile was a passion project of mine as the management of Digital Retribution slowly updated less and less, and then the site came down, and in doing so we lost so much quality writing and friendships forged on the forums that I decided to change up my old site, update its name to the formally glorious Digital Retribution, and I have a lot more planned, including a horror novel book club podcast called Dead Tree Technology, and a discord server so like-minded fans of genre films can get together and chat about their favourite stuff, and maybe even play some horror games online together.

With streaming services being more prevalent now than when the old DR existed, it seemed more and more a better idea to review things on Shudder or Netflix as physical media tragically seems to lose favour. This will be in addition to the physical media reviews, which will also have a more interactive aspect to it as I commit to reviewing the highest voted films on polls I’ll put into the Digital Retribution Instagram ( ).

I just wanted to thank you for stopping to read this, and I hope you enjoy the reviews and the exciting stuff still to come.
